Central is proud to recognize Mr. Daniel Montanez as our site Teacher of the Year!  Mr. Montanez is an exceptionally bright teacher who combines a drive for engaging students with a passion for making Central and its community a beacon in the city. Mr. Montanez is a true leader among his peers and colleagues. As our site Athletics Director, he communicates with students and parents about physicals, CPR and First Aid training and he makes sure that all of the staff members know when our students will be competing in Middle School Athletics events.

Mr. Montanez is committed to Central Middle School and the Riverside community at large because he believes in giving back to the city from which he got his educational start. He is a product of RUSD schools, having attended Hawthorne Elementary School, Chemawa Middle School, and Arlington High School. After graduating from Arlington, Mr. Montanez remained in Riverside and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from California Baptist University. Now in his fifth year of teaching at Central, he can also be found on the baseball diamond at Arlington where he assists the Arlington Lions’ baseball team as an Assistant Coach. Mr. Montanez consistently demonstrates what it means to be a leader in the classroom, on the field, and at district-sponsored events and activities.

Mr. Montanez recognizes the positive impact of good physical health on students’ engagement and well-being. To that end, he educates students about healthy habits and good choices that will affect them throughout middle school and beyond and it is amazing to see how many of our students have caught the “health and fitness” bug that Mr. Montanez encourages and inspires. Congratulations Mr. Montanez! We are very proud of you!
