Central opened in the fall of 1928. Its first graduating class of 1929, consisted of about 170 students. Central was founded on the principles of strength, dignity and tradition.
* Founded in 1926, our school is one of the oldest in Riverside.
* Our mascot is the Cub.
* Our school colors are Red and White with Black as an accent color.
* Originally there was one middle school called Riverside Junior High. But Riverside grew so quickly that a bond was passed for the building of three junior high schools. Because we are located in the center of Riverside our name naturally became Central Junior High School and when the 9th grade moved to Poly High School, the name was changed to Central Middle School.
* Our school motto is "Expect the Best."
